I am a passionate charity communicator with over 20 years’ experience of working in the Third Sector and the Arts, both inhouse and freelance. I have a Masters degree in Television Journalism and Media Law.

Previously having worked at the BBC as a producer/reporter, I have a real insight into how the media operates and apply that knowledge with my support for charity comms.

I have worked with national, regional and grass-roots charities across the UK, and I am passionate about story- telling, (through interviewing, filming and photography),

and highlighting the impact that charities have across the country, every single day.

I have a proven track record of securing local, regional, national and broadcast press, (BBC, the Guardian, Channel 4 News...) alongside running impactful social media campaigns, be that fundraising or volunteer recruitment.

I love working across the UK, delivering bespoke support to organisations, be that a commmunications plan, media training or re-branding.

I created The Media Room to offer a comprehensive range of communications support to charities and the Arts across the UK. (Press, PR, Marketing, Digital, Branding and Website Design, Strategy and Planning, Videography and Photography, Media Training and Event Management).

I work with a wide range of organisations such as family support charities, young people's charities, social welfare charities, housing charities and Arts venues. Example of clients include: Barnardos, Manchester- promotional film and event management The Sharp Project (Shelter), Leicester- Communications Strategy- branding and profile-raising Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN)- Press lead across 10 arts venues

I have led on Communication strategies for a range of charities, including- Wai Lin Society, (Manchester), Shelter's Sharp Project, (Leicester), Home-Start Greater Manchester and Birmingham, bespoke plans that take into account client's macro and micro needs- profile raising, media crisis, re-brands, fundraising crisis and volunteer recruitment; producing key messaging and vision and mission statements.

In I led on an ethnographic project, providing photo essays from women sharing their experiences of the 0-2 early years services. I have produced a range of GDPR compliant image libraries for sensitive subjects, such as domestic abuse, child poverty and poor mental health.

Working with small charities across the UK, supporting them with a range of communication needs, such as media crisis support, branding and communication strategies. (Charities working with a range of beneficiaries such as asylum seekers and refugees, survivors of sexual abuse, and those experience poverty and deprivation).

Working alongside young people living in the care system, supporting them with photography projects and creative writing, to enable them to tell their care-experienced stories. (With ongoing Safeguarding training). I have also led on a youth-voice project, (ethnography), with a focus on supporting young people to share their views and experiences of the town they live in, (through photography and a live event), in order to inform and shape future plans for the town council.
