Claire Vink

Currently, I’m part of the Data Science Area within Rabobank, which consists of 90 other data scientists that has end-to-end responsibility of 10+ ML solutions. In my role I leverage my expertise to drive business decisions through the devel- opment and implementation of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions. With my team I’m responsible for building robust data science technologies to solve complex problems.

One of my responsibilities is being a trust advisor to customers in the public sector to accelerate their cloud adoption journey. This implies that I lead architectural design sessions, develop proof of concepts and deliver ongoing support. Besides, I’m also responsible for driving short and long term impact in the genomics mar- ket. This includes scoping the market, identifying Microsoft genomics offerings, educating colleagues and defining an actionable sales strategy. Due to my strong theoretical background in combination with my entrepreneurial mindset, I have the ability to unite people and create trusting relationships. As a result, I formed and lead an interdisciplinary team consisting of partners, account executives and product owners to target 13 enterprises this fiscal.

During my internship I worked closely with Microsoft Research and a breeding company to develop a fast and accurate algorithm that is able to detect high- order epistatic interactions in high dimensional genomics data. Despite having no experience in the domain of genomics, I managed to centralize knowledge and combine different domains to create a Java application that is able to detect interactions that otherwise remain unidentified. As a result my master’s thesis, which was graded 9.5/10, is in the running for the Best Applied Math award and got selected to present at the BioSB conference, a prestigious conference for bioinformatics.
