Gael Chouchelamane

I’m an independent consultant and technical specialist in high-voltage battery systems, with over 15 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and strategy roles across the UK, Europe, the US, and Asia.

I’ve led battery development projects for top-tier clients, including Jaguar Land Rover (Jaguar I-Pace) and several Fortune 1000 companies. My past roles include Chief Engineer position and senior engineering positions at Stellantis and JLR. At JLR, I developed battery warranty strategies that led to a £170 million reduction in provisions—combining technical insight with real business impact.

My expertise spans the full battery system lifecycle: Li-ion pack design, battery management systems (BMS), functional safety (ISO 26262 & IEC 61508), thermal management and battery repurposing. I’ve worked on multi-megawatt-hour systems for marine, UPS, and industrial applications, and delivered DO-160/DO-330 compliant testing programs for aerospace and eVTOL platforms.

I hold a PhD in electrochemistry from the University of Southampton, where my research focused on low-platinum fuel cell catalysts. I’ve also developed and delivered technical training on Li-ion battery safety, handling and storage for manufacturing teams.

In my consulting work, I often support projects from early concept through to design review, prototype, and production. I’m experienced in creating DFMEAs, defining DVPs, managing BMS strategies and leading multidisciplinary teams of electrical, thermal and manufacturing engineers.
