Next to labor and capacity planning, my new focus is extended with Supply Chain design. Connecting our manufacturing systems to supply chain systems (SAP) to improve material flow.
To connect production to supply chain, I finished an end to end model that connects our yearly marketing forecast process to a weekly forecasting process on SKU level including Bill Of Material. By combining this yearly forecast, with the daily demand, the model is able to generate a statistical forecast to be used within SAP. But by not only developing this statistical forecast(60k lines per day) but also developing the tools to spot deviations and trends, we are able to analyze differences and decrease our costs. Current focus is to get the proper forecasting into SAP and improve our cycle count checks and make them data driven. I like to solve complex problems. This new model incorporates even New Product Introductions the first day we start selling and track their performance. This move has been made possible by training my backup planner and our intern that finished his internship. By coaching and guiding in the analytical part of the job, but more importantly, communication on all levels on what needs to be done, explain focus areas in our plant, with our labor agency, with marketing and supply chain. Being the spider in the web.
